Sex Stories (2009)

Sex Stories (2009), original French title Histoires de sexe(s), is a French erotic drama directed by Ovidie and Jack Tyler. The film is built around two simultaneous dinner parties. One group of four women (including Lou Charmelle and Leeloo) gathers at Agathe’s apartment, while four men meet at Jean-Philippe’s place. The two groups know each other — some are couples — and the evening revolves around candid conversations about their sexual lives, desires and past experiences.

As each person tells their story, the film intercuts explicit sex scenes that illustrate the confessions being shared. The directors deliberately aimed for a more dialogue-driven and relatively stylish approach within the adult genre. Despite this, the film was classified X in France, becoming one of the rare cases in years where an intended art-house erotic release received the heaviest rating. The result is a talky, intimate and unapologetically explicit full-length portrait of modern sexual relationships.
