Tribe (2014) + English Commentary

Ukrainian director Miroslav Slaboshpitsky's film "Tribe" is the quiet but egregious story of a boy with a hearing disability who, after entering a specialized boarding school, strives to find everything that ordinary people look for: love, respect and self-actualization. But such an environment has its own rules, different from the ordinary world, where there is no "I" or "want" or "can't" but only "have to". Their gang engages in acts of violence, robbery, sex and prostitution. In parallel with it, between Sergey and one more pupil of a boarding school Anna passion, and can even, love flashes. There are no unnecessary scenes of far-fetched romanticism, exciting thoughts or philosophical searches. After all, in the life of the tribe, quick decisions and low needs are more valued.
